My flower child
By guest blogger, graphic designer and sister, Christy Forsythe.
Lucky me
I’m not going to lie. I am extremely fortunate to have a sister as a photographer. She is perfectly documenting my daughter’s rapid growth, and helping me mark all those cute milestones.
Even though I am a designer, I always leave the photography to the pros. In my career as an art director, it is very important to choose the right photographer for the job. A lot of shooters out there can do it all, from editorial to commercial to architectural. But really, to get what you need, it’s best to hire someone who shoots in a niche. Jess is just that. She shoots maternity, newborn, babies and families and she does it really well. I’m not just saying this because I’m her sister. And I’m not just saying this to get unlimited free photography for life – I get that from helping her with her website and some photoshop work (haha!).

Flowers, flowers everywhere
Now, let’s talk about these photos! When Jessica is photographing baby milk baths, she or I will head to our local Petals For Less and pick out a variety of flowers and greenery for the shoot. If a crown is involved I go nuts and always buy too much! I make the crowns the day before and keep them misted and cooled overnight so they are perfect for baby/toddler/mom the next day. In the case of River, I had to make this crown the morning of the shoot! She was up at 4 am as well, which added an extra challenge to our day. Thank you new tooth!
Jess wanted to do a milk bath video and a set of stills for the day. We started with the video. In about 4 minutes, her floor was flooded and there were flowers everywhere. It was such a mess we had to reset the whole scene to take still photos next. Jess said that my daughter was the most splashiest child she had ever seen.
I’m not saying that these might be the best milk bath photos I’ve ever seen, but these are the best milk bath photos I’ve ever seen. Now only if my cats would sit still in a tub of milk for a photoshoot, my life would be complete.
